"Wii Sports" is a game for the Nintendo Wii in which players compete against real or virtual opponents in a variety of games, including tennis, golf and boxing. In each game, you perform a series of arm movements similar to those used in the actual sport; the Wii's remote control tracks the movements of your body and uses this data to move your onscreen counterpart accordingly. By using the buttons on the remote, you can perform actions beyond what the remote can track.
Tennis
Step 1
Hold the remote in the palm of your hand with your thumb over the "A" button.
Step 2
Press the "A" button to toss the tennis ball into the air. Swing the remote upward and bring it back down to serve the tennis ball to your opponent.
Step 3
Wait for your opponent to return the ball to you. Swing the remote toward the side of your body where the ball is headed. Adjust the speed of your swing to set the direction the ball will travel when you hit it; a fast swing will send the ball to the left, a moderate swing will send it straight and a slow string will send it right.
Baseball
Step 1
Grip the remote with both hands, as you would a baseball bat. Point the top end of the remote upward.
Step 2
Wait for your opponent to throw the ball at you. Swing the remote in front of you when the ball passes over the plate.
Step 3
Pitch the ball to your opponent by swinging the remote in an overhand motion. Hold down the "A" button to throw a curveball, the "B" button to throw a screwball and both buttons to throw a splitter.
Bowling
Step 1
Hold the remote in the palm of your hand with your thumb over the "A" button.
Step 2
Press the "A" button to switch modes. Press the left and right sections of the directional pad to adjust your starting position. Press the "A" button to switch modes again.
Step 3
Swing the remote to your chest and hold down the "B" button, located on the rear of the remote. Swing the remote back, then forward in an underhand motion. Release the "B" button to throw the bowling ball.
Golf
Step 1
Grip the remote with both hands, as you would a golf club. Point the top end of the remote toward the ground.
Step 2
Use the left and right directional buttons to adjust your aim. Use the up and down directional buttons to select a golf club. Pull the remote back and swing it as you would a golf club.
Step 3
Putt the golf ball into the hole by holding down the "A" button as you swing. Use the "1" and "2" buttons to examine the hole from different angles.
Boxing
Step 1
Plug the Wii Nunchuk accessory into the connector on the bottom end of the remote. Hold the remote in the palm of one hand with your thumb over the "1" button. Hold the nunchuk in the other hand, with your thumb away from the button.
Step 2
Punch either hand forward to attempt to hit your opponent. Punch upward to aim toward the head and downward to aim toward the torso.
Step 3
Hold the nunchuk and the remote in front of you to block; while holding both devices in front of you, tilt to the left or right to dodge.
