Unintentional weight loss can be caused by a variety of conditions or illnesses, including chemotherapy, depression or an eating disorder. If you've unintentionally dropped a few pounds, it's perfectly understandable why you want to hide your weight loss. Someone who is too thin or underweight, or who has recently shed a number of pounds, may not want others commenting on her weight loss. If there's a coexisting problem, you may be tired of people asking how you're doing. Hiding weight loss and dressing attractively is one way to help you feel good about yourself.
Step 1
Choose light color clothing. WomansDay.com reports that dark colors are slimming.
Step 2
Buy clothes that fit you, but that are not fitting. Baggy clothes will emphasize your skinny frame. You can layer clothing to make your body look curvy. Wear vests and camisoles; also try wearing T-shirts over button-up tops.
Step 3
Dress in flow-y tops. This is a good substitute for layering when it's warm outside.
Step 4
Wear chunky jewelry. A bold necklace will draw the eye away from your clothing and your weight loss. Avoid really long chain necklaces since they can accentuate a slim figure. Keep the jewelry to a minimum, especially if you're short. Wear one eye-catching necklace.
Step 5
Accentuate your bust. Wear a push-up bra, scoop and V-neck neck shirts and tops with open collars.
Step 6
Drape scarves over T-shirts. A light scarf---not one you would wear on a snowy day---will add depth to the top half of your body and can even dress up a boring T-shirt or outfit.
Step 7
Wear flats rather than shoes with heels. High heels may make you look taller, but they make you look skinnier as well.
Tips and Warnings
- Avoid pinstripe pants, fitted pencil skirts, waist-defining belts and snug jackets and blazers. All of these will emphasize skinny hips and your lack of curves. Try on clothing by different designers. Some clothing lines are designed for thin people and accentuate a thin body.
- Hiding weight loss could be a symptom of an eating disorder. If you think you are anorexic or bulimic, you can talk to your physician or a therapist to get help.
