Having cellulite in the thigh area can be a frustrating experience. Cellulite can cause self-consciousness about wearing certain clothes like shorts or swimwear. The appearance of cellulite can be reduced without surgery, massage treatments or topical gels. Although you cannot completely get rid of cellulite, you can get rid of sagging skin and reduce the dimpled appearance with a specialized plan. Strength training and healthy eating builds muscle for smoother-looking toned thighs.
Step 1
Perform high-intensity interval training or HIIT at least three days each week. Step on a Stairmill at a slow speed for one minute and double the speed for one minute. Repeat for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Perform squats. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart holding a dumbbell in each hand. Sit your hips back until your knees are bent to 90 degrees. Squeeze your butt and thigh muscles and press yourself back up to the starting position. Repeat for three sets of 15 repetitions.
Step 3
Perform lunges. Stand in a split stance with dumbbells at your side. Lower yourself down until your front knee is bent to 90 degrees. Press yourself back up to the starting position. Repeat for three sets of 15 repetitions.
Step 4
Eat healthy foods. Avoid processed foods high in sodium and refined sugars that cause water retention. Eat foods in their whole form such as vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and lean proteins to increase energy levels and repair muscles.
Step 5
Limit your dairy intake to decrease bloating caused by the body's inability to digest the sugars in milk.
Tips and Warnings
- Drink water to eliminate bloating caused by dehydration. Dieting affects your whole body, so you cannot pinpoint where you will lose weight. Consult your doctor before beginning an exercise program.
