Oily skin can be frustrating and can require extra care to keep it looking fresh and smooth, and to keep blemishes at bay. Although stores are full of commercial products for oily skin, an occasional skin treatment made at home from simple ingredients in your own kitchen will give your skin a welcome break from chemical-laden skin care treatments. Make your treatments from fresh, natural ingredients, and you'll be surprised how good your skin will feel.
Oily Skin Mask
Step 1
Place 1 cup of fresh strawberries in a mixing bowl and mash the berries with the back of a fork. Stir in 2 tbsp. of natural honey and 1 tbsp. of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Step 2
Separate two eggs and add the egg whites to the strawberry mixture. Stir in 1/4 tsp. eucalyptus or jojoba oil.
Step 3
Wash your face, and then pat your skin with a towel to remove the excess moisture. Smooth the mask onto your damp skin. Allow the mask to remain on your face for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Oily Skin Toner
Step 1
Chop 2 tbsp. of fresh mint leaves, and mix them with 8 fresh sage leaves, 2 tbsp. of fresh thyme leaves and 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley.
Step 2
Heat 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Add the mint, sage, thyme and parsley to the water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow the mixture to simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Allow the mixture to cool for 10 minutes, and then pour the mixture into a blender or food processor container. Add 2 bok choy stalks or 3 celery stalks. Include the leaves.
Step 4
Add 6 tbsp. of witch hazel and 1 tbsp. of freshly-squeezed lemon juice. Blend the mixture for two to three minutes. Place a strainer over a bowl and line the strainer with a coffee filter. Pour the liquid through the strainer.
Step 5
Use a funnel to pour the toner into a small container. Wash your face, and then dab the toner onto your clean skin.
Cucumber Cleanser
Step 1
Peel one cucumber, and then cut the cucumber into 1-inch chunks. Place the cucumber chunks into a blender container and puree the cucumber.
Step 2
Place a paper coffee filter over a small cup, and then strain the pureed cucumber through the paper.
Step 3
Add a small amount of milk, approximately equal to the amount of cucumber juice. Dip a cotton ball into the mixture, then smooth the cotton ball over your face to remove dirt and impurities. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.
