If you shave or wax your face or body often, you probably suffer from occasional razor bumps that leave your skin inflamed and irritated. Numerous home remedies abound, and one may work better for you than another as first aid for razor bumps. See your doctor if the irritation persists, and discontinue any at-home razor-bump treatment that makes your symptoms worse.

Aspirin Remedy

Step 1

Dissolve three to four uncoated aspirin tablets in a 3 oz. glass of hot water.

Step 2

Stir the mixture with a spoon until it reaches a paste-like consistency.

Step 3

Apply the paste to the razor bumps, and let it sit for three to five minutes.

Step 4

Rinse off the paste with cool water.

Herbal Remedy

Step 1

Mix 1 tbsp. each of calendula oil and comfrey oil in a medium-size mixing bowl. The oils are available from health food stores and online herb retailers.

Step 2

Add 1/3 cup each rose water and witch hazel to the mixture and stir thoroughly. Rosewater is available from online herb retailers, health food stores and high-end grocery stores.

Step 3

Add 5 drops each of sandalwood and lavender essential oil, and 1/2 tsp. vegetable glycerin to the mixture. Stir thoroughly.

Step 4

Pour the mixture into a plastic bottle with a fitted lid. Put the lid on and shake the mixture vigorously to blend the ingredients.

Step 5

Store the bottle in a pantry, cupboard or cabinet for at least two weeks, and shake the bottle every other day to re-distribute the ingredients.

Step 6

Apply the mixture to razor bumps as needed with a clean, damp cotton ball, and rinse it off with cool water.

Buttermilk and Cucumber Mask

Step 1

Peel and dice one large cucumber.

Step 2

Place the diced cucumber into a blender or food processor and process it on low until the cucumber is finely chopped and about a quarter of the cucumber liquefies.

Step 3

Pour the cucumber pieces and juice into a small bowl.

Step 4

Add 1/3 cup buttermilk to the cucumber pieces and juice and stir thoroughly.

Step 5

Apply the mixture to the razor bumps with a clean washcloth or cotton ball, and leave it on for five minutes.

Step 6

Rinse off the mask with cool water.

Step 7

Store any leftover mask in the refrigerator for up to three days.
