One of the hardest aspects of dieting is temptation, and if you're on the go all the time, grabbing some candy from the vending machine may not only seem tempting, but it may be your only option. Thankfully, many supplement manufacturers have formulated meal replacement diet drinks that you can take on the go and stick with your diet wherever you are. Be careful, though--while most of these drinks are low in carbohydrates and high in protein, some drinks are simply too high in calories to be effective as meal replacements if you're dieting. And before beginning a diet or using supplements, be sure to speak with your doctor about safe dieting and supplement use.

EAS Myoplex Lite

According to the fitness and nutrition website BodybuildingforYou.com, EAS Myoplex Lite ready-to-drink shakes are the top choice for getting lean and losing weight. EAS Myoplex Lite shakes are diet-friendly because each shake contains just 190 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 2 grams of sugar. These low-calorie shakes contain an entire meal's worth of protein--20 grams--in fewer calories than your average candy bar. These shakes also contain a number of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, B, C and E and calcium, folate and zinc. Each shake also contains 3 grams of fiber, which may help you feel full.

Labrada Carb Watchers Lean Body Shake

Labrada is a supplement company founded by professional bodybuilder Lee Labrada, and according to the website Ironbodies Bodybuilding, the brand's Carb Watchers Lean Body Shake is the best dieting meal replacement option available. As Ironbodies Bodybuilding explains, this meal replacement shake is low in sugar and carbohydrates and high in protein, which may help you retain muscle as you lose fat. These shakes are slightly higher in calories than Myoplex Lite, as each has 230 calories. However, the Carb Watchers shakes contain just 12 grams of carbohydrates, 1.5 grams of fat and 42 grams of protein. Like Myoplex Lite shakes, these are fortified with vitamins and minerals.

Cytosport Diet Muscle Milk RTD

The name explains everything you need to know here--this shake is formulated for dieters who want to retain muscle and lose fat. The Diet Muscle Milk RTD shakes are quite lean, with 160 calories per shake. While these are sugar-free, the Diet Muscle Milk RTD shakes contain 10 grams of protein and 20 grams of carbohydrates, so they may not be appropriate for those on very low carbohydrate diets. However, the shakes each contain 5 grams of fiber and 5 grams of fat, which may increase satiety and help you eat less later in the day.
