A body wrap treatment is a classic spa day luxury that women will routinely pay money to experience. Body wraps relax and rejuvenate your body, and they are an escape from the stresses of everyday life. Using a homemade body wrap formula is a good way to experience the benefits of a spa in your own home for a lot less money.
Step 1
Prepare your body by having a warm shower to open your pores. Prepare your treatment area by laying a plastic drop sheet on your bed or wherever you plan to lie down for the treatment. Burn candles and essential oils, and play soft music to set the mood.
Step 2
Boil eight cups of water in a large pot.
Step 3
Remove from the heat and let sit for 10 or 15 minutes, then add two cups of clay. Choose bentonite if your skin is oily, pink kaolin if your skin is sensitive, and yellow kaolin for normal skin.
Step 4
Add one cup of Epsom salts and one cup of powdered herbs, such as calendula, lavender, ginger, chamomile. You may combine herbs.
Step 5
Stir the mixture together to form a paste. Dip towels or linen sheets into the mixture one at a time and wrap your body. Start at your ankles, and work your way up to your neck. Place towels lengthwise for each leg and across your midsection. Relax for one hour and have a cool bath when you have finished.
Tips and Warnings
- For a seaweed wrap, replace the herb powder and Epsom salts with equal amounts of seaweed powder and sea salt. Consider adding some olive, almond or flax oil if you have dry skin.
