Several models of the NordicTrack treadmill line support the iFit, or interactive fitness, feature. iFit is powered by Google Maps. With iFit you can download customized workouts, create workouts, track your progress and map out running and trail routes. To use the iFit feature, you will need an iFit.com account, a personal computer with a USB port and a wireless Internet connection. The initial setup can take up to two hours. Once you initialize the program, you access iFit directly from the treadmill's console.

Step 1

Go to iFit.com and register for an account. Click on the "Register Now" link at the top-right corner of the page. Enter the activation code that came with your unit. You will also be prompted for information about yourself and your fitness goals.

Step 2

Connect your iFit wireless module to your personal computer. Plug one end of the USB cable into your iFit module and the other end into your computer.

Step 3

Install the iFit software. Click "Install Now" at the top-right of the screen. This screen should appear after you register for your iFit account. If you do not see this button, direct your browser to iFit.com/install.

Step 4

Follow the on-screen directions to configure your iFit module to your wireless connection. When prompted, you will need to select the name of your home's wireless Internet connection. If this is a secure connection, you will need to enter the password information.

Step 5

Insert your iFit module into your treadmill. Remove the USB cord from your computer and from the iFit module. Turn off your treadmill. Insert the iFit module into the iFit port on your treadmill. Attach the magnetic safety key to the treadmill.

Step 6

Allow up to two hours for the program to initialize. Turn your treadmill on. Pull the magnetic safety key. The iFit firmware will begin to update.

Step 7

Select the iFit Live mode when using your treadmill. Attach the safety clip to your waist. Insert the magnetic key into the unit. Press "Workouts" and then choose "iFit Live Workouts."
