The Gold's Gym 450 treadmill is designed for users on a budget. Because it is an entry-level model, it's best suited for walking or occasional running on days you do not feel like running outside or going all the way to your gym. Assembling the Gold's Gym 450 treadmill is a two-person task, but besides that, it requires only the included hardware and a couple of common tools.

Step 1

Lay the treadmill on its left side and partially fold the frame.

Step 2

Expose the upright wire; this wire connects the base to the control panel inside your treadmill's console. Cut the tie that secures the upright wire to the right side of the treadmill's base. Locate the tie in the hole in the front right portion of the base and pull the upright wire out of the hole by the tie.

Step 3

Attach the base pads and base spacers using the included screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver until secure, but do not over-tighten the screws.

Step 4

Attach the right wheel to the base of the treadmill using the included 50 mm bolts and nuts. Tighten the nuts with an adjustable wrench, but do not over-tighten them; the wheel must turn smoothly without sticking.

Step 5

Secure the right upright and right upright spacer to the frame. Insert the upright wire through the center hole in the upright spacer and align the holes in the spacer with the holes in the frame. Insert the upright wire through the center hole at the bottom of the upright and pull the wire through the top of the upright using the wire tie. Position the upright so that the holes at the bottom of the upright align with the holes in the spacer and frame, and secure the upright and spacer to the frame by inserting the included bolts and washers through each of the aligned holes. Insert each bolt so that the heads of each bolt are on the outside of the treadmill; do not fully tighten the bolts.

Step 6

Press a plastic base end cap into the bottom of the upright.

Step 7

Flip the treadmill over onto its right side; you will likely need the help of another person to do this due to the weight and bulk of the treadmill.

Step 8

Attach the left base pads, left wheel and left upright using the methods described in steps three through six. There is no upright wire on the left side of the treadmill.

Step 9

Turn the treadmill into the upright position so that the bottom is flat on the floor.

Step 10

Attach the latch insert to the left upright with the large hole facing inward, place the spring over the latch pin and insert the latch pin into the latch insert so that the knob of the pin is on the outside of the treadmill. Tighten the knob until the latch pin is secure.

Step 11

Insert the upright wire through the hole at the bottom of the right handrail and pull the upright wire out through the large hole at the top of the right handrail. Align the holes in each handrail with the holes on each upright and secure both handrails to uprights using the included bolts.

Step 12

Hold the center console over the handrails and attach the ground wire protruding from the back of the console to the smallest hole in the right handrail by wrapping the ground wire around the silver screw and tightening the screw until it holds the ground wire in place.

Step 13

Connect the upright wire to the console wire by gently pushing the connectors at the ends of each wire together until they snap into place.

Step 14

Insert any extra length of wire into the right handrail and cut the wire tie off the upright wire. Make sure you do not accidentally cut the upright wire, as this will sever the console's connection.

Step 15

Align the holes on the back of the console with the holes on each handrail and insert bolts through each hole.

Step 16

Tighten all bolts on your treadmill until all parts are secure. Do not over-tighten any bolts.

Step 17

Plug in your treadmill, turn it on and test it by walking at a low speed to make sure all parts are secure. Tighten any loose connections.
