How to Repair Scratched Glasses

One of the difficulties of having glasses is that the lenses can become scratched very easily. Although it is possible to purchase more-resilient lenses or ones with an anti-scratch coating, neither solution will completely prevent this problem. Professional optometrists and eyeglass retailers often do not offer a scratch removal service, requiring this treatment to be done yourself.

Lens Repair Kit

Step 1

Purchase a lens scratch removal kit. Some examples are Lens Doctor and Liquid Lense.

Step 2

Wipe the scratched lens with the cleaning solution using a soft cloth.

Step 3

Rinse the cleaning solution off the lens and then wipe the lens dry.

Step 4

Apply the treatment solution to the scratched area using a cotton swab. Use thin and even strokes that overlap, being sure to completely cover the scratched area.

Step 5

Let dry for 30 minutes. Look at the treated lens to see if the scratches are removed and repeat as necessary.
