Directions for the Operation of a Sportline 304 Pedometer

The Sportline 304 Pedometer, also known as the ShrinQ Pocket Pedometer, is a device designed for use by people who run or walk as part of a fitness regimen. The device uses a digital motion sensor to keep track of the number of steps you take; the pedometer's computer then multiplies this number by the average length of your stride to calculate the total distance you have traveled. Additional features include a built-in clock and a calorie counter.

Step 1

Use the measuring tape to measure out a distance of your choosing. Place markers at either end of the measured distance. Walk or run from one end to the other, depending on how you plan to use the pedometer. Count the number of steps you take as you run. Divide the total distance by the number of steps to determine your average stride length.

Step 2

Press the "set" button, located in the center of the pedometer's front panel. Hold the button down until the word "Adj" appears on the display.

Step 3

Press the "reset" button, located to the left of the "set" button, to input the current hour. Press the "mode" button, located to the right of the "set" button, to advance to the minutes setting, then use the "reset" button to input the current minute. Press the "mode" button to advance to the seconds setting, then press the "reset" button to reset the seconds setting to zero.

Step 4

Press the "mode" button to advance to the format setting. Use the "reset" button to toggle between a 12 hour or 24 hour display. Press the "mode" button to save your settings.

Step 5

Press the "mode" button repeatedly until the "steps" mode appears on the display. Hold down the "set" button until "Adj" appears on the display, then use the "reset" button to select the desired display setting. Press the "mode" button again, then use the "reset" button to input your current weight.

Step 6

Press the "mode" button and use the "reset" button to input your average stride length. Press the "mode" button twice to return to the main menu.

Step 7

Insert the pedometer into one of the pockets on your clothing; for best results, select a pocket that does not hang loose and will allow the pedometer to remain upright as you move. Begin walking or running.

Step 8

Continue walking or running until you have reached your exercise goals. Remove the pedometer from your pocket and press the "mode" button to cycle through the various display modes. Note the information displayed and record the data for use in tracking your workout progress.
