As we age our faces tend to develop expression lines and wrinkles that belie our youthful outlook, partly due to stress, environmental issues and sun exposure, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. From environmental stressors to the harmful effects of the sun, our faces often age faster than we'd like, but with exercise you can minimize the appearance of these wrinkles and expression lines on your face. Be sure to consult with your physician before undertaking any exercise program to ensure that the exercises are right for you.

Eye Exercise

The facial exercise page of the website Beauty and the Bath reports that often the first wrinkles on your face appear around your eyes. These can be minimized by pressing into your temples with two fingers on both sides of your face, according to the website. While pressing into your temple region you should pull your fingers back slightly, stretching the skin around your eyes. While this skin is pulled tight, blink your eyes rapidly about 50 times to help eliminate wrinkles around your eyes.

Mouth Exercise

This exercise can help eliminate the appearance of expression lines around your mouth, according to the facial exercise website Shape Your Face. Pull at the corners of your mouth with the index fingers of both hands until you're stretching the mouth muscles a little more than a quarter of an inch. Hold this stretch for about two seconds and then use the muscles around your mouth to try to pull your fingers together. The website suggests performing between 25 and 50 repetitions of this exercise.

Chin and Jowls

This exercise is performed by sitting in a chair with your head tilted back until you're looking at the ceiling. Lift your lower lip over your top lip as far as possible and hold this position for about five seconds. Relax your mouth and neck and return to the starting position and then repeat this exercise four more times, according to the website Wrinkle Free SkinTips.

Cheek Exercises

Contract the muscles of your mouth and form an "O" shape while holding your lips slightly apart and smiling, according to HealthGuidance.org. Hold this position for about three seconds and relax the contraction. Repeat this exercise five times a day, the website suggests. Another good exercise to eliminate expression lines on your mouth and cheeks is to open your mouth as wide as possible and stick your tongue out as far as possible. Hold this position for a count of five and relax. Repeat this exercise until exhaustion, the website suggests.
