Losing weight before college begins is like prevention. Most students tend to gain in weight in college because they are away from home, have new lifestyles and may go to one to many parties. Starting a weight loss program before college starts will also to help you feel more confident as you meet new people and begin a new chapter of your life. According to Fitness Magazine, weight loss plans fall flat after two weeks, so motivate yourself break the barrier and start now before college begins.

New Places New Faces

Losing weight before college will help you start a new chapter. According to the Mayo Clinic, you will be more successful in your weight loss if you pick a date to accomplish your goal. Everyone likes looking a feeling there best and there is no better time for that than when you start college. Losing weight and having body confidence will give you the confidence to meet new people and try new things. When you feel good about how you look it is easier to mix and mingle with new people.

Creating Healthy Habits

Losing weight requires a shift in your diet. Making the changes now before college starts will help you to keep these habits in college and prevent your from gaining the freshman 15. Try eating foods that will keep you full longer like fruits, vegetables, lean meats and whole grains. These foods will fuel your body and give you the energy that you need.

Start moving now so getting to class is easier. Often times universities are big and spread out. This may mean a 10 minute walk to each class. Getting fit now will help you build some endurance to help you get to class faster and without getting out of breath. Also a new town may mean new transportation. Losing weight now will make it easier to get around in your college town whether by bike, foot or even roller blades.

Getting fit before college begins will also help you meet more fit people. People often gravitate towards other people that have similar interests. Getting fit now will help you to meet more people. Most all colleges have an athletic center. This is a great place to meet people whether you are working out on your own or taking a class.

Increase Energy

Losing weight before you get to college will increase your energy. During college there are many new things you will want to try and you may have a lot on your plate. Having energy will be important and goes hand in hand with working out. Stay motivated knowing weight loss and working out will give your body the gift of energy which will allow you to try so many new things in college.
