Experiencing the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal or detox can be difficult. However, rather than treating patients who are experiencing restlessness or obsessive-compulsive behaviors, nux vomica is indicated for patients who are over-sensitive to light, touch, and sound. These patients may also be over-sensitive emotionally as well, erupting angrily at the slightest comment, according to HealthNotes.
Staphysagria
Staphysagria is helpful in treating people who turned to alcohol to suppress their emotions, according to HealthNotes. Patients who are helped by staphysagria often seem mild-mannered and accommodating, but they may be harboring deep anger, possibly due to abuse or neglect in childhood. When they can no longer resort to alcohol to help them suppress their feelings, they may start acting out by starting arguments or throwing things. Staphysagria is intended to help these patients deal with their emotions while the alcohol works its way out of their systems.
