According to Beauty magazine, real beauty is achieved by living a healthy lifestyle, such as a balance diet, not smoking, exercising regularly and avoiding over exposure to the sun. However, people often seek quick remedies to enhance beauty hoping to boost self-esteem and feel more confident. Most hair and beauty treatments can be accomplished from home or by a professional.
Hair Color
Depending on your reason for coloring your hair, this can be one of the most dramatic changes to your appearance. According to The Hair Styler, whether going darker or lighter, always stay within three or four shades of your natural hair color.
According to Beauty, you should always test a half-inch-wide section at the nape of your neck. Follow the same instructions as if you are applying the color to your entire hair. By testing a section, you're able to verify the color is what you're looking for. If you're not looking for a full color change, a salon can apply highlights by adding lighter strands to your hair or lowlights by adding darker toned strands.
Masks
A facial mask is a beauty regimen that, according to Beauty, makes your skin look and feel healthier. Depending on the type of facial mask used, masks are able to cleanse, tighten, exfoliate and moisturize. An exfoliate mask will be applied as a facial peel or scrub. Cleansing and tightening masks are normally muds. Moisturizing masks come as gels or creams.
Facials can be done at home or at a spa.
Exfoliating
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells so new healthy skin can be revealed. Exfoliating does not stop at the face. Facials stimulate blood flow to the skin and remove built-up skin scales that can cause ingrown hairs and clog the pores. Exfoliating can be done with a body scrub, product, loofah, dry brush or bath salts.
A person with sensitive skin may find exfoliating with a scrub causes irritation.
Moisturizing
A beauty treatment includes moisturizing your full body, face and hair. For hair, especially after hair has been chemically treated, there are several conditioners that can be used to restore moisture to your strands. These include a good everyday conditioner, a leave-in conditioner or a deep conditioning treatment.
As for your face and body, according to the University of Iowa's Health Topics, moisturizers should be applied within three minutes of exiting a shower or bath. This seals water into the skin before it can evaporate.
Other Treatments
One common beauty treatments is facial waxing, which is most often used to shape eyebrows. Chemical peels are another treatment that is used to minimize wrinkles, scars, acne, and skin discoloration. Unlike other treatments in this article, a chemical peel needs to be completed in a doctor's office.
Manicures and pedicures are other beauty treatments that can be completed at home or by a professional.
