Campsites in Aurora
If you're planning on camping in Aurora, Indiana, then there's a friendly and accessible campsite on hand: Campshore Campground, in the vicinity of General Butler State Park. Once your tent's set up, make sure you venture out as there's plenty to explore along the Little Turtle Trail nearby, and the more adventurous can try whitewater paddling on Gunpowder Creek. Lake Geneva is nearby, and golf enthusiasts can check out Vineyards Golf Club.
RV Parks in Aurora
If you prefer to sleep a little higher off the ground, you can park your RV at Campshore Campground. It's the only RV park in the vicinity of the city itself. If you'd rather venture a little further out from Aurora, but want to remain within driving distance, you can park your RV at any of the neighboring state parks, including Brookville Lake and Versailles State Park. There is also an RV park, called Browning Camp, in nearby Versailles, and Follow the River RV Resort in Florence.
State Parks
All state parks in Indiana offer facilities for camping, whether you're hiking with your tent packed in your backpack, or you're rolling up in your RV. Versailles State Park, 22 miles west of Aurora, is no exception. If you're an active camper, there are plenty of invigorating outdoor activities available, from boating and paddling in Versailles Lake and Laughery Creek, to hiking and mountain biking. If you prefer something a little more relaxed, Versailles State Park is a good spot for fishing, and for simply enjoying the scenery. Even nearer, for those willing to hop into the next state, is Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky, just fifteen miles from Aurora. Big Bone Lick State Park features an outdoor museum, with a discovery trail, for exploring fossils.
Nudist Camping
If you want to try something different, you could visit Drakes Ridge Rustic Nudist Retreat, a nudist campground near Aurora, Indiana. Drakes Ridge is situated in beautiful woodland, and facilities include a golf course, volleyball, an outdoor swimming pool and hiking trails, allowing you to be healthy and active in a relaxed environment. There are also bathrooms and communal kitchens.
