Facial scrubs are surface exfoliants designed to use after cleansing. Surface exfoliants remove dead skin cells and any remaining oil or debris left on your face and work to brighten your skin tone and complexion. Before deciding to add a facial scrub to your skin care routine, consider the state of your skin. While the ingredients in most facial scrubs are only mildly abrasive, they can be irritating to your skin and worsen moderate to severe acne.
Step 1
Splash your face with warm water to open your pores or let the steam from a shower take care of this step for you. Wash your face using your normal facial cleanser and pat dry with a clean towel.
Step 2
Squeeze a small amount of the facial scrub onto your fingers or a cotton cosmetic pad.
Step 3
Massage the scrub, using a gentle circular motion, into your forehead, nose, cheeks and neck. If you have time, leave the scrub on your face for a few minutes.
Step 4
Rinse well. You should not be able to feel any evidence of the scrubbing granules on your face.
Step 5
Follow up with a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.
