Not every dieter has time to count calories, measure portions and prepare healthy meals. Many people prefer to simply grab something on the go. For those individuals, diet food delivery programs provide a convenient way to consume three healthy meals a day--and lose weight--without doing any of the work. Diet food delivery programs vary by frequency of delivery, price and types of food available.

Freshology

Freshology's diet delivery provides customers with a daily--rather than weekly or monthly--meal delivery system. The day's meals arrive in a cooler bag at your door every morning. The meals are guaranteed not to be frozen or shrink-wrapped, and instructions for preparing the food is always included. The packaging of each meal is recyclable. The Freshology system provides you with hormone-free and antibiotic-free meats, and all of the meals are suitable for diabetics. Depending on the program you choose, Freshology may cost you from $52.95 a day to $67.95 a day.

Nutrisystem

Nutrisystem provides plans for both men and women, and allows you to "create" your menu online before ordering. Food is delivered once every 28 days, so you must freeze your Nutrisystem meals. However, you may supplement the meals with certain fresh foods, such as fruit and dairy products. Nutrisystem customers pay by the month, and depending on the program, your meals may cost anywhere from $300 to $350 each month.

In the Zone Delivery

In the Zone Delivery bases its diet program on the premise that each individual's daily food intake should consist of 40 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat. After signing up, individuals must undergo a telephone consultation to determine their goals and subsequent needs and preferences. You can opt for either daily or weekly delivery. No special "membership" is required, and individuals may cancel their delivery service at any time. The program costs approximately $40 each day plus the cost of delivery.

BistroMD

BistroMD markets itself as a healthier alternative to most diet delivery services because it was designed by a medical doctor, rather than a dietitian or food-service corporation. The service is owned and managed by Dr. Caroline Cedarquist, a weight-management physician. According to BistroMD.com, each meal is prepared by gourmet chefs and vacuum-sealed to ensure freshness. Sample meals include sirloin steak, apple-glazed pork chops and grilled salmon. The BistroMD plan is tailored to each dieter's personal needs and may range in calories from 1100 to 1400 a day. All daily foods, including three regular meals and two snacks, are included in the program. Thus, it isn't necessary for you to supplement any of the meals. BistroMD costs approximately $20 a day.
