Red, itchy bumps that appear after shaving are often referred to as razor bumps or razor burn and are caused by irritation of the hair follicle that occurs during shaving. Underarm razor burn can be avoided by applying a warm cloth to the area before shaving to soften the hairs, shaving in the direction of hair growth, and never shaving with a dull razor. If you are prone to razor burn, you can also keep some ingredients on hand at home, any of which can be used to treat the irritation after it occurs.
Step 1
Apply a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream to the razor bumps.
Step 2
Crush two aspirin in enough warm water to make a paste and apply it to the irritated area.
Step 3
Massage in some pure aloe vera gel to the razor bumps.
Step 4
Apply a few drops of tea tree oil to a cotton ball and rub it over the razor bumps.
Step 5
Apply witch hazel to a cotton ball and rub it over the irritation.
