Horizon E5 Elliptical Review

The Horizon Fitness E5 elliptical trainer is a front-drive model with 10 resistance levels. Treadmill Doctor calls the E5 a "good looking, average quality elliptical." AllEllipticals.com calls it a "decent little start-up machine."

Resistance

The Horizon E5 has push-button, motor-adjusted magnetic resistance. A motor moves the magnet closer to a flywheel for more resistance, or further from the flywheel for less resistance.

Specs

The Horizon E5 has a fixed, 18-inch stride and a 275-lb. maximum user weight limit.

Programming

The Horizon E5 offers an unusually high number of pre-programmed workouts, considering its price range. These include two custom programs, a race simulator and two random-adjust programs.

Features

Other features of note on the E5 include a built-in cooling fan, built-in speakers with MP3 player-compatible input leads, pivoting pedals and a built-in handgrip heart-rate monitor.

Price

The E5 retails for $1,000 as of 2010, although selling fitness equipment at steep discounts is a common industry practice; AllEllipticals.com groups it in the $500 to $600 price range.
