Petzl headlamps are hands-free light devices worn on the head, intended for professional and recreational use.

Basic Features

Easy to use and lightweight, battery-operated Petzl headlamps offer adjustable elastic headbands to hold the lamp securely on the head, accessible push-button on/off switches and a battery charge indicator light. Most models are water-resistant; and a few are water-proof.

Lighting

Petzl headlamps offer two types of light beams, wide and narrow as of 2010. Lighting mode options include three brightness levels, a strobe mode for signaling, a light boost mode for a temporary surge of light and a red light mode for night viewing.

Cost

As of the summer of 2010, Petzl headlamp prices at REI.com ranged in price from $19.95 for the Petzl Tikkina 2 LED Headlamp to $500 for the Petzl Ultra Belt Accu 4 Headlamp. Most outdoor retailers sell Petzl products in similar price ranges.

Care

Test your Petzl headlamp before each use to ensure it is in good working order. Replace batteries and headlamp bulbs as needed. Be careful not to scratch the light beam cover as this will affect the quality of the light emitted.
