Although the Cetaphil product line is intended for use on the skin, manufacturer Galderma says that you can shampoo with it. For this purpose, the Gentle Skin Cleanser is the best option. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is fragrance free and has the best pH balance for hair. Other Cetaphil products may produce less optimal results because of the differences between what's chemically good for skin and what's chemically good for hair.
Step 1
Wet your hair. If you have long or thick hair, massage your scalp while wetting to make sure the roots get wet. Because skin products have a different composition than shampoos, you will want as much water as possible to mix the Cetaphil with.
Step 2
Pour the cleanser into your hand. For short hair, an amount the size of a dime is enough. For long or thick hair, use an amount the size of a quarter or dollar coin.
Step 3
Work the cleanser into your scalp. Cetaphil is good for the skin, so take advantage of the opportunity to treat your scalp.
Step 4
Knead your hair from scalp to tip, distributing the cleanser over the rest of your hair. Because it's a skin cleanser, Cetaphil won't suds up the way shampoo normally does.
Step 5
Rinse the cleanser out of your hair, again working from the scalp out. Rinse a second time with cold water.
