Home Remedy for Facial Blemishes

Blemishes come from clogged follicles in the skin. Follicles are the canals within skin's pores that carry dead skin cells and oils to the surface. When these canals get clogged with hair and sebum, a blemish appears. There are many treatments for blemishes that are prescribed by dermatologists and found in drug stores, but natural remedies are another option that is often less expensive and less likely to cause irritation. However, if skin problems persist, it is important to see a physician as natural remedies are not a substitute for medical treatment.

Step 1

Crush 1 aspirin with the back of a spoon and moisten it with water to create a paste. Apply the paste to blemishes for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Aspirin contains salicylic acid, an ingredient found in acne medications.

Step 2

Dilute 1 part apple cider vinegar to 8 parts water and apply to blemishes with a cotton ball before bed. Apple cider vinegar balances pH in the skin and assists in clearing blemishes.

Step 3

Use witch hazel after cleansing the skin. Witch hazel is a natural astringent that absorbs excess oil without drying out the skin.

Step 4

Eat a diet rich in antioxidants including vitamins A, C and E. These nutrients are found in dark fruits such as berries. Minerals zinc and selenium are also helpful in clearing blemishes, states the article "Acne Blemishes Treatment--The Essential Vitamins and Minerals."

Step 5

Take a B complex vitamin once a day. B vitamins even skin tone and clear blemishes. According to HerbalVitality, B vitamins also reduce inflammation and irritation caused by blemishes.
