Popular with runners, cyclists and other fitness enthusiasts, personal heart rate monitors are now available to help track both resting and active heart rates. These small, battery-operated units usually consist of a strap or band that fits around the chest with contacts that pick up the electrical activity of the heart. The unit then transmits the information to a wristwatch type device that displays your heart rate. Over time, the battery will run down and need replacing. This is a simple procedure that takes just a few minutes to complete.

Step 1

Insert a coin into the slot in the battery cover on the back of your heart monitor. Turn the coin counter-clockwise to open the battery cover. Remove the cover.

Step 2

Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the battery compartment between the edge of the battery and the monitor case. Carefully lever the battery from the case. Do not force the battery to avoid damaging the case or any other elements within the battery compartment.

Step 3

Insert the new battery into the battery compartment with the positive side of the battery facing up.

Step 4

Remove the old sealing ring around the battery compartment and replace it with a new ring.

Step 5

Replace the battery cover and close it firmly with the coin. Turn the monitor on and re-enter your settings, if necessary.

Tips and Warnings

  • To lengthen the lifespan of your battery, use the back light function as little as possible.
