You can add another abdominal workout day to your exercise regime, but if your abs still are not flatter, the solution to your abdominal dilemma may be right in your kitchen, not in the gym. Eating healthy natural foods will not only help to flatten your stomach naturally, but clean eating also decreases cravings for junk food.

Step 1

Decrease your stress levels. Stress increases cortisol production which is a leading cause of tummy weight gain. Lower your cortisol levels by avoiding stimulants like caffeine, getting adequate rest, and meditating.

Step 2

Eat more fiber. High-fiber foods take longer to digest, which gives your body time to register when you are full, so you are less likely to overeat, according to MayoClinic.com. Daily fiber recommendations are 30 to 40 grams for adults.

Step 3

Limit your dairy consumption to decrease bloating caused by lactose intolerance. About one-quarter of Americans develop an inability to digest the natural sugar in milk, which can result in bloating and weight gain, notes The New York Times.

Step 4

Eat five to six meals per day to keep hunger at bay. Consume only natural foods that have more nutrients and keep you fuller. Avoid processed foods that are loaded with refined sugar, sodium and saturated fats that digest quickly so you are more likely to eat more. Staying away from junk foods will prevent cravings for fatty, salty and sugary foods.

Step 5

Increase your daily water consumption. Switch sugary drinks, which are loaded with calories, with water to cut calories, keep you fuller longer, and decrease bloating caused by dehydration.

Tips and Warnings

  • Keep processed junk foods out of your kitchen so you are not tempted to indulge.
