The right resume is like a good first impression. It only takes moments for the employer to decide you're worth pursuing. Writing one can be a daunting task, especially if you're not sure what to include. The task can seem even harder if you don't have work experience. But just because you've never had a job doesn't mean you don't have skills and experience worth highlighting.

Step 1

Include a section on your educational history. Because you have no work experience, this section can be larger than normal. List school name, location, year of graduation, major and any honors received. Do not include high school unless you did not attend college.

Step 2

Consider including class projects and academic awards. While people might leave these out of a traditional resume to save space, it is appropriate on a resume for someone with no work experience.

Step 3

List coursework that is relevant to the job for which you are applying. Let the employer know if you excel in some areas, especially if they are relevant to the job for which you are applying.

Step 4

Determine what skills will be needed for the job you're applying for, and highlight these skills on your resume, if applicable. For instance, include research, writing, computer or mathematical skills you learned in school.

Step 5

Include activities in which you have participated, such as clubs, fraternities or sororities. Highlight leadership positions.

Step 6

Include any volunteer experience. Mention the responsibilities and skills you gained.

Step 7

Remember that odd jobs, such as babysitting or lawn care, can be considered self-employment. Create a job title, such as "Self-Employed Child Care Worker," and include this information on your resume.

Step 8

Include internships, and detail the responsibilities you had. This section will show the potential employer that while you may not have had a job, you've still have work experience.

Step 9

End your resume at one page. For those with no work experience, one page will be sufficient.
