Placing your children in an after-school program helps them stay in shape, teaches them responsibility and discipline, and gives them a chance to socialize with other children outside of school. There are many of activities in Phoenix for children, such as cheerleading, football, basketball, gymnastics or martial arts.
Sports
Beginners Edge Sports training offers after school sporting activities in a nonleague setting. The company hosts basketball, soccer, baseball and football. SlamDunkerz basketball teaches a weekly interactive basketball-learning course for kids 12 and younger. The class focuses on skill building such as dribbling, shooting and defense. The CrackerJax amusement park has a golf academy for children. A LPGA teaching professional hosts the academy.
Gymnastics
The Arizona Dynamics Gymnastics and Cheer center has a gymnastics program for children age 2 to 12. Students in the program will learn the fault, bars, beam, floor and trampoline, according to Phoenix Kids.com. The center also has a tumbling class for children who just wish to learn basic skills like flips and somersaults.
Horse Back Riding
Jacqueline's School of Horsemanship has horseback riding lessons and clinics for beginning equestrian children. According to Equine Now, the courses focus on basic safety, riding skills and horse grooming. Galloping with Guidance has equestrian lessons that focus on barrel riding. They also have riding trails, a riding area and a boarding center.
Cheerleading
The Arizona Heat Elite Cheer Center has competitive cheerleading teams starting as young as age 3 and all the way through high school. According to Phoenix Kids.com, American Cheerleader magazine named the Arizona Heat Elite Cheer Center one of the top All-Star gyms in the country. Arizona Dynamics Gymnastics and Cheer has an All Star Cheer program open to ages 6 to 18. They have year-round open tryouts for beginners to advanced cheerleaders.
Martial Arts
AA-Maui Saito Ninjutsu has an after school ninjutsu program from children. The class focus on coordination, basic moves and discipline while adding in self-defense moves to help teach children confidence. America's Best Karate in Phoenix has after school karate classes for children and young adults.
