Summer camp is an opportunity for your children to step out on their own. They can learn new hobbies and make new friends. The city of Jupiter has a variety of summer camps available. These camps range from aquatic-based to golf camps. Sessions are available as full summer camps, weekly camps and half-day camps.
Diving Camp
In Jupiter, your kids can take part in the Dive-In Snorkeling Adventure Camp. This adventure camp is offered during spring break, on weekends and during the summer. Campers get to fish, snorkel, learn to castnet fish, set crab traps, hiking and skim boarding. Campers must be between 4 and 12 years old. All necessary gear is provided and instructors are CPR certified.
Half Day
Jupiter offers a variety of half-day camps. These camps include fishing, dancing, flag football and cheerleading camps. Camps run for one-week long sessions from 9 a.m. to noon. For fishing camp, campers must be between 6 and 13 years old. For all other camps, campers need to be between 4 and 12 years of age. As of 2010, camp costs $95 per session.
Full Summer
One of the most popular summer camps in Jupiter is the eight weeklong summer camp run by the Town of Jupiter. This camp is offered for individuals between 6 and 13 years old. Campers are split into age groups from 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13. Age appropriate activities keep campers entertained during the day. Activities include team sports, board games, movies, crafts and field trips. As of 2010, camp costs $600 per camper for the eight weeks.
Golf Camp
For kids who love to golf, consider signing them up for a local golf camp run by the Parks and Recreation Department of Palm Beach County. Camps are available for kids between 7 to 17 years of age. Kids of all skill sets are welcome. While at camp, kids will practice chipping, pitching, putting, sand play and will learn golf etiquette. As of 2010, camp costs from $135 to $210 based on memberships and sibling discounts.
Adventure Camp
At the Jupiter Outdoor Center, children between 6 to 13 can be part of a summer camp that focuses on spending time in nature, learning outdoor skills, team building and leadership skills, and paddling skills. Campers take daily trips out on the water to go paddle boarding, surfing, skimming and ocean kayaking. Some days, campers will go snorkeling and fishing. Instructors teach the campers about the aquatic wildlife, flora and fauna that they see out on these trips. Once a week, campers will participate in a river cleanup.
