Overview

The appearance of wrinkles under the eyes is usually the first signs of aging. Wrinkles may be due to genetics, exposure to ultra violet rays from the sun or the effects of smoking, according to Medline Plus. Protecting your skin from the sun with the use of sunscreens, sunglasses, wearing a hat and avoiding smoking, will help to delay or minimize the appearance of wrinkles. If the eyes are already showing the signs of aging there are eye masks to reduce their appearance.

Carrot Eye Mask

Carrots are a rich source of nutrients; of all vegetables and fruits carrot contains the most carotene. Carotene is converted into vitamin A. Vitamin A supports the maintenance of the skin, the mucus membrane and cell growth. According to CarrotMuseum.co.uk website, vitamin A is a potent antioxidant that helps to fight free radicals, strengthens the immune system, protects the skin and promotes cell growth. Make a carrot cream mask by extracting the juice of 2 small carrots, add one tsp., of almond oil and mix these ingredients together well. Chill this mix in the refrigerator for two hours and apply around the eyes. Leave the mask in place for 30 minutes. Repeat this treatment as needed.

Banana Mask

Bananas are rich with nutrients. They contain vitamins C, A and B6 that help to protect the skin from the signs of aging and fight against the damages of free radicals to the cells tissue. According to BananaWeb.com the following banana mask mix will help to diminish the appearance of wrinkles. Mash a ripe banana and add one tsp., of rose water, mix these ingredients together well. Apply this mixture around the eyes, leave on for 30 minutes, rinse and dry the area. Repeat this treatment as needed.

Make a cabbage mask by grinding two cabbage leaves and extract the juice. Add 1/4 tsp of ground Brewer’s yeast and one tsp of honey. Stir the mixture together well and apply it to the skin area around the eyes. Leave the mask in place for 20 minutes, then rinse and dry. This treatment may be repeated as needed.
