Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
Members of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo have the option of a special birthday package with lunch, pizza or a healthy option, a special surprise for the birthday child and a guest appearance by the Zoo's mascot that is sure to delight young imaginations. The venue is the RainForest's Orchid Room and parties must be booked at least three weeks in advance. The total cost of the basic package is $375 as of August 2010, for Zoo members only. Extras such a Face Painting and Small Animal Encounter are available at an additional cost.
Active Play
For those living in or near the greater Cleveland area, the Memphis Kiddie Park provides a fun and active venue for a child's party. The birthday package includes two hours of unlimited rides, a box of popcorn, a drink and a Kiddie Park Balloon. The birthday boy or girl will also receive a free Kiddie park coloring book to inspire their creativity. The package can accommodate 6 to 19 children at a cost of $12 per child, or 20 plus children at a cost of $10.75 a child as of August 2010. Reservations are required so booking early is advisable. Outside food or drink is not permitted, however birthday cake and ice cream are allowed.
Educational
For a party which is both fun and educational, head to the Children's Museum of Cleveland. The party package includes admission to the museum and all it's interactive, hands on exhibits, rental of a private room for two hours, accommodating 18 kids and 12 adults comfortably, and museum staff to greet you on arrival. Food is not included so parents are encouraged to bring snacks, cakes and decorations as they desire; a refrigerator and freezer are available in the room to keep food fresh. It's best to make reservations at least 6 weeks in advance and costs start from $200 for a large party room as of August 2010.
The Gift of Knowledge
Celebrate your child's birthday by giving them an insight into the wonders of nature. The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes offers the chance for what they call a "B'earth'day" party which includes room rental for 3 hours and an hour long program led by a naturalist. There are various options to choose between such as a Scavenger Hunt, Orienteering and Animal Tracking. The average price of the package based on a group of 12 kids is $235 as of August 2010. Food and decorations are not included but can be brought by the parents or party hosts.

Some feel that creativity is just as important as intelligence to a child's success, and art classes can be the perfect way to get their creative juices flowing. Spirit of Clay offers the chance for children to paint their own work of art and the party package also provides use of paint, sponges and stencils. There are various options available which enable parents to bring their own food, but if you'd rather opt for a catered package including pizza, beverages and a cake, this will cost from $25 per child as of August 2010, with a 10 child minimum. The guest of honor gets a special plate to remember the day.
