You get age spots when you expose your skin to UV rays of light from the sun for too long over a period of time. Age spots usually happen to people over the age of 50, when the amount of melanin, a pigment which causes your skin to darken, increases. The UV rays of light damage the collagen and elastin in your skin, the chemicals that keep your skin looking young and fresh. Without collagen and elastin, your skin is much more susceptible to age spots. You can, however, naturally remove your age spots naturally by using ingredients you can find right in your own home and cleaning your skin correctly.
Step 1
Exfoliate your skin with a loofah. Make sure you use a loofah with hard fibres. A loofah looks like a mesh sponge and can help buff your skin, getting rid of the top layer of dead skin. Your dead skin contains the most amount of melanin, so you can fade your age spots by consistently using a loofah on your skin. Make sure you rub the area of skin with the sun spots vigorously, but not so hard you irritate and damage your skin. A loofah is a natural way you can remove your age spots.
Step 2
Stay out of the sun. Since sunlight is the number one reason you get age spots in the first place, it is essential you stay out of direct sunlight if you want to remove your age spots. If you must be outside, make sure you cover up the areas of your body where you have age spots. Wear long pants, a long shirt, a hat and sunglasses.
Step 3
Apply buttermilk to your skin. Buttermilk has a natural bleaching agent in it that can over time, help fade your age spots.Pour about a cup of buttermilk into a bowl, dip a cotton ball into the liquid, and rub onto your age spots. Let the liquid evaporate.
Step 4
Apply lemon juice to your skin. Just like the step above with buttermilk, lemon juice contains a bleaching agent that can fade your age spots over time. You can either buy a bottle of lemon juice or squeeze the juice from a real lemon. Pour a small amount into a bowl and dip a cotton ball into the liquid. Run into your age spots and let the liquid evaporate.
