Kid Friendly Finger Foods

Young children begin feeding themselves with finger food and many continue to enjoy finger foods long after they leave the highchair. For an infant just beginning on finger foods the act of feeding himself will help him learn fine motor skills, according to the Wholesome Baby Food website. Offering finger foods that are kid friendly will give your baby a chance to learn to feed himself and your school-aged child a healthy alternative she wants to eat.

Pizza Fondue

Fondue comes in many forms, from appetizer to desert. A pizza fondue combines one of children's favorite foods and the fun of finger foods in one meal. Pizza fondue is also an easy option for parents since all it requires is browning a half pound of ground beef and then adding pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese to a fondue pot. Dipping French bread cubes into the fondue will keep children entertained and happily eating their dinner.

Kabobs

Kabobs are another versatile food that can come in many forms from breakfast to desert. Boiled eggs, pancake cubes and sausage links make for breakfast kabobs that kids can enjoy. Dinner kabobs combine marinated meat and vegetables. Picking some of your child's favorites and having her help place the food on the skewer ensures a successful dinner. Dessert kabobs allow for a fun alternative to a fruit cup. Cubed fruit is easy to skewer and eat. A strawberry banana kabob or a tropical fruit kabob not only provides a fun dessert but a nutritious one as well.

Faux Sushi

Sushi may not be on the top of most children's food list but creating faux sushi will make children smile. Wrap melon cubes in thin slices of cucumber to look like sushi and finish off with a toothpick. Cucumber can also be a substitute for sea grass when wrapping California rolls. It's easy to cube rice cereal dessert squares. Hollow out the cubes and insert slivers of fruit or chocolate for a sweet dessert.
