Dry skin, also called xerosis, is not a serious condition but it can become uncomfortable and unsightly as it can potentially cause fine lines and wrinkles. Serious skin conditions may require an evaluation by a dermatologist. Many vitamins can help reduce dry skin and ensure it's healthy.

Vitamin H

Vitamin H, also referred to as biotin, is part of the B group of vitamins and assists in converting carbohydrates into fuel so the body has energy to burn. Vitamin H is necessary for healthy skin and is often recommended as it assists in keeping it strong. It is found in a variety of cosmetic products. A lack of vitamin H in the body can result in dry scaly skin, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Vitamin C

This water-soluble vitamin is required for normal development and growth, according to Medline Plus. As it is water-soluble, leftover amounts of the vitamin will leave your body through urination, which means you should have a continuous supply of vitamin C in your diet. Vitamin C helps to produce a protein called collagen that assists in making skin. Also, vitamin C is an antioxidant, helping to protect the body from free radicals that may cause damage to the skin. According to Northwestern Health Sciences University, this vitamin is particularly helpful because it repairs skin and helps to neutralize damage caused by ultraviolet exposure.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is fat-soluble vitamin and is best known for enhancing vision. Another main function of vitamin A is promoting cellular growth, according to MayoClinic.com. It may also reduce the mortality rate of some types of cancer, aid in growth and improve the immune system. According to Northwestern Health Sciences University, this vitamin helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores. Also, vitamin A assists in the production of sebum, natural oils on the face that keep your skin hydrated.
