South Carolina Summer Camps for Kids

Across South Carolina are numerous summer camps that are designed to help your children learn new sports while building their self-esteem. There are a variety of choices, including a range of sports, and day and overnight camps. There are camps designed for kids who love sports, surfing or nature across the state of South Carolina.

Baseball Camp

At Cal Ripken Baseball Camp in Myrtle Beach, your children can work on their baseball skills with direction from experienced professionals. This camp is run by Cal and Bill Ripken along with several other former Major League Baseball players. There is an overnight and a day camp option. This camp is available for children ages 6 to 18. Campers are broken into separate programs based on ability and age. Additional activities at camp include swimming, field trips and games.

Surf Camp

The Sol Surfers Surf Camp teaches children how to surf. This day camp is designed to have children appreciate the sport of surfing while also learning a new healthy activity. The camp takes place in the waters off the coast of Folly Beach, near Charleston, which has surfable waves in warm water temperatures. This five-day camp separates children into groups based on ability and age. Instructions take place both on land and in the water. Children must be at least 8 years old to participate. Classes run from Monday thru Friday, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m.

Nature Lovers

At Camp Sewee, children spend their days playing in the waters of the Intracoastal Waterway. While at camp, children will explore the salt marshes, freshwater ponds and a local wildlife refuge. This gives children an up-close experience with a variety of plants and animals. Activities at Camp Sewee include crabbing, tubing, swimming, kayaking, hiking and field trips. This overnight camp offers one-week sessions throughout the summer. Children ages 8 to 14 can attend Camp Sewee.

Sailing Camp

Spirit Ocean Adventure is a summer sailing camp that takes place aboard a 140-foot-tall ship. This overnight camp last 10 to 18 days. The ship sails from Charleston and disembarks in Boston, Massachusetts. The camp is designed for children between the ages of 15 to 18. While out on the boat, campers will learn how to navigate, maneuver, cook, clean and predict the weather. The goals of the camp are to teach your child how to have fun and be safe while sailing.

Tennis Camp

The Van Der Meer Hilton Head Island Tennis Camp is designed for children ages 8 to 18. While at camp, your children will learn from certified instructors. Instructors work to improve consistency and stroke production, build confidence and increase fitness levels of campers. In addition to playing tennis, campers will swim, play on the beach and go for bike rides. This camp is available for children of all skill levels and has both an overnight and a day camp option.
