If you are a meat lover, you are likely to want to find weight loss diets that include plenty of protein sources in your daily meals. Most diets that are advertised as low-carb include a lot of protein while restricting carbohydrates, such as breads and pasta. According to the Mayo Clinic, these diets can help achieve weight loss, but some of it may be water weight and it may be too restrictive to follow long-term.
Neanderthin
Neanderthin is an eating plan based on a diet book by Ray Audette. To lose weight, you are instructed to follow an eating plan that is similar to what cavemen ate. No grains, refined carbohydrates or sugars are allowed on the diet. You are to eat mostly meat along with fruit, nuts, eggs, vegetables and shellfish. You don't need to count the number of calories you consume or the size of your portions on this diet to lose weight.
Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet iinvolves you restricting carbohydrates and instead eating a diet high in protein and fat. During the beginning phases of the diet, you are only allowed 20 grams of carbs per day. Allowed foods on Atkins include pork, beef, veal, turkey, chicken, duck, eggs, fish and shellfish. You can eat these foods in unlimited amounts. The longer you are on the diet and lose weight, the more foods you are permitted to eat, including servings of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Protein Power
This diet was detailed in a book written in the late 1990s by a couple named Michael and Mary Eades. At each meal, you must add a source of protein, such as meat, fish, poultry and eggs. This diet is not likely to appeal to vegetarians since the only non-meat source of protein you are permitted is tofu. A serving of tofu three times a day is likely to become tedious. If you are trying to lose a lot of weight, the authors suggest that you eat only 30 grams of carbohydrates daily. You must also have 25 grams of fiber daily, eight glasses of water and eat fats from healthy sources, such as avocado and olive oil.
