How to Get Rid of White Pimples on Tongue

According to "Foundations and Adult Health Nursing," painful white spots, resembling pimples, can appear on the tongue for a variety of reasons, including inflamed taste buds, trauma to the tongue, canker sores and an array of diseases, including diabetes. Though home remedies can remove the white pimples and alleviate the discomfort associated with them, prior to treating the pimples on your tongue you should visit your physician to ensure that you are not suffering from a serious medical condition.

Step 1

Gargle two to three times per day with mouthwash. According to "Introduction to Medical-Surgical Nursing," mouthwash can kill bacteria on the tongue that may be causing the white pimples. Stop gargling immediately if you experience pain.

Step 2

Mix one part water with one part hydrogen peroxide. Saturate a cotton swab with the mixture and dab it onto the white pimples on your tongue after gargling with mouthwash. According to "Foundations and Adult Health Nursing," the water and hydrogen peroxide mixture will kill additional bacteria that could be causing white pimples on the tongue.

Step 3

Saturate a cotton swab with milk of magnesia. Gently apply the milk of magnesia to the white spots on your tongue. According to "Introduction to Medical-Surgical Nursing," the milk of magnesia will reduce the inflammation and ease the irritation of the white pimples.
