Though popping your pimples can be tempting, according to "Handbook of Dermatology: A Practical Manual," you should avoid doing so because of an increased risk of scarring and infection. If, however, you cannot resist the urge to pop your pimples, you can remove the redness around them using a few household items. Visit your doctor if the redness does not disappear; he can make sure you don't have an infection.

Step 1

Place a piece of wax paper on a plate.

Step 2

Saturate one cotton swab for each of your pimples with redness-reducing eye drops. According to "Braun-Falco's Dermatology," these eye drops will quickly reduce redness in the skin.

Step 3

Place the saturated cotton swabs on the plate covered with wax paper. Place the plate in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the plate from the freezer. Gently hold the end of the cotton swabs saturated in eye drops to your pimples for 10 seconds, then discard the cotton swabs. According to "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice," the cold temperature of the eye drops will reduce the inflammation of the pimples.
