Candida albicans is a yeast that resides in the bowel, vagina and skin. In most people, this is a normal part of the bacteria that live in your body. However, for some, an overgrowth of this yeast can create a large variety of health problems such as fatigue, headaches, yeast infections, eczema and many more. Unfortunately, this is not recognized by the traditional medical community, as there are no medical trials that prove an overgrowth of this yeast is what results in these conditions. However, many alternative and holistic doctors will discuss this condition with you, so consider looking for one of these doctors to consult with if you feel you have a yeast-related problem.

Eliminate Sugar

The main idea behind the candida cleanse is eliminating sugar from your diet. Sugars feed the yeast in your body and help to support their overgrowth. In order to cleanse the body of Candida, you will need to starve the bacteria so they die. Avoid all sugary foods such as cookies, cakes and sodas. Check food labels and if an item contains sugar, eliminate it from your diet. This may include things such as pasta sauce, peanut butter and breakfast cereal.

Avoid Alcohol

Alcohol is a fermented beverage that contains a different kind of sugar. These beverages put stress on the body's organs, and help to provide energy to the Candida yeast. Avoid all alcohols while on the cleanse. You can add small amounts of alcohol later after your symptoms have disappeared, but this could bring your problems back, so proceed with caution.

Eliminate Vinegar and Malt

Vinegar and malt are similar to wine, as vinegar is essentially spoiled wine. You need to avoid vinegars and malts while on this cleanse as they eliminate acids and can cause inflammation in your intestines. You will find vinegar and malt in many forms, so read labels carefully. Vinegar is in most condiments including ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, salad dressings and marinades. Malt is a sugar also found in many of these foods and may be disguised under a different name, such as maltodextrine.

Eliminate Flour

Eliminate all sources of flour from your diet, with the exception of brown rice flour. Most flours contain gluten, and many people with yeast problems tend to have difficulty processing gluten. Eliminating it can help your body fight the Candida infestation. Brown rice is allowed on the Candida cleanse, as it is gluten free.

Eliminate Dairy

Dairy products should be eliminated for two reasons. First, many aged cheeses are mold-contaminated, which can promote Candida overgrowth. Second, other dairy products contain lactose, which is a sugar that will also feed the yeast in the intestine, promoting their growth. Avoid dairy until your symptoms are under control. Then, you may have dairy products, but it is wise to avoid aged cheese as it may trigger another Candida outbreak.

Fruits

Avoid fruits, as they are too high in sugar or are mold contaminated. The only fruits allowed are low sugar berries such as blueberries and strawberries. Lemon juice is also permitted on the cleanse.

Other Mold Contaminated Foods to Avoid

Nuts, corn and corn products, and mushrooms are generally mold contaminated and must be avoided on this cleanse, as they can promote an outbreak of candida.
