The Ab Lounger 2 by Fitness Quest gets you off the floor to do your abdominal workout. The device resembles a patio or lounge chair. It is designed so you can do a jackknife-style ab exercises.

A jackknife crunch involves pulling both your legs and torso together. This enhances the amount of abdominal activity compared to just crunching with your upper body. Your back and neck are supported by the chair throughout the range of motion.

Step 1

Sit in the Ab Lounger. Bend your knees and place your feet on the foot rest at the bottom of the unit. Hold the pull up strap above your head. Use a shoulder-width grip.

Step 2

Exhale and crunch forward. Engage your abdominal muscles by pulling your belly button towards your spine. Round out your lower back, pulling your legs and chest together. To target your abs, think of pulling your rib cage toward your pelvic bone.

Step 3

Hold the fully crunched position for three seconds as you continue to exhale.

Step 4

Inhale as you uncurl. To avoid using body momentum to move, take a full two seconds to return to the start position.
