Octane xR6 Seated Elliptical Review

The Octane xR6 seated elliptical trainer is the entry-level model in the xR6 series. You may see these unique recumbent elliptical trainers occasionally referred to as elliptical bikes, since at first glance they somewhat resemble a dual-action recumbent bike. But in terms of drive mechanism, they're actually front-drive elliptical trainers.

Recumbent

The recumbent seat allows you to enjoy an elliptical trainer workout even if you have stability problems that keep you from balancing on an ordinary elliptical trainer, or if you have back problems that require extra support.

Specs

The xR6 has a 17.5-inch fixed-stride length, 20 levels of push-button adjustable resistance, five pre-programmed resistance programs and a maximum user weight of 300 pounds. The elliptical trainer itself weighs 244 pounds.

Features

The xR6 has some unique features, including Chest Press and Leg Press workout modes designed to help you cross-train to help strengthen the muscles of your chest and legs. Large handlebars on the upper-body workout arms let you choose between several hand positions.

Cost

As of August 2010, the xR6 retails for about $3,200, direct from the manufacturer. It comes with a lifetime frame warranty, five years of parts coverage and one year of labor coverage.
