Coping with loneliness the death of a loved poses a challenge. When you're grieving you may feel alone, but you still need to take care of yourself. The death of a loved one can quickly take a toll on your physical and mental health. Looking after your emotional needs will help you get through the loneliness.

Step 1

Talk with a friend or family member, even if you feel like being alone, to help you dissipate your emotions.

Step 2

Find a group activity to participate in to combat your loneliness, such as one involving sports, book clubs, dance classes, aerobic classes and hiking clubs.

Step 3

Run, bicycle or take a brisk walk with a friend to allow your body to release endorphins that provide you with a euphoric feeling. Take the time while exercising to clear your mind from loneliness, anger, grief and stress.

Step 4

Invite a friend or family member to spend the day with you in a natural environment. Relax at the beach, hike in the mountains, swim in lake or meditate in a forest. Reconnect with nature to reflect on the loss of your loved one and appreciate the time you had to spend together.

Step 5

Pamper yourself at a salon and treat yourself with a manicure or pedicure. Book an appointment for a massage. Treat yourself to dinner and a movie. Spoil yourself by spending time doing something you enjoy. Relax in a hot bubble bath, read a book, do an hour of relaxing yoga stretches or meditate in a quiet room.
