How to Cover Really Dark Circles Under the Eyes

According to "Foundations and Adult Health Nursing," dark circles can occur under your eyes for a variety of reasons, including hereditary predisposition, fatigue and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Regardless of why you have dark circles under your eyes, you can cover them up, giving your face a youthful, well-rested appearance. Only a few minutes of time and a few items are required to disguise the dark circles.

Step 1

Cleanse your face with a gentle facial cleanser. According to "Milady's Standard Cosmetology," concealer, which is used to cover up dark circles under the eyes, adheres best to clean, dry skin.

Step 2

Pat your face dry gently with a soft towel. According to "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice," it is important that you avoid using a scrubbing motion to dry your face, as this motion can irritate the skin, worsening the dark circles under your eyes.

Step 3

Apply a dime-sized amount of concealer to a cosmetic sponge. According to "Milady's Standard Cosmetology," your concealer should be one shade lighter than your natural skin tone.

Step 4

Apply the concealer to the dark circles under your eyes with the cosmetic sponge.

Step 5

Apply a pea-sized amount of foundation to a new cosmetic sponge. Use the cosmetic sponge to apply the foundation to your entire face. This will blend the concealer with the foundation, ensuring that your dark circles are sufficiently hidden.
