The hands are easily neglected when it comes to home beauty care. According to Stephanie Tourles, author of "The Herbal Body Book," the hands are the first part of the body to show signs of aging. You can nurture your hands from all the work and natural elements they endure by making a homemade cream that is especially made for relieving chapped or dry skin. Even if your hands aren't feeling chapped or dry, your hand cream will help to keep your hands feeling smooth.

Step 1

Put the beeswax, cocoa butter and base oil into your pan or double boiler. Heat and stir the mixture on a low temperature until the cocoa butter and beeswax melt completely.

Step 2

Remove the mixture from the heat. Add about 20 drops of an essential oil such as rosemary, sandalwood or rose to help heal dry and chapped skin.

Step 3

Let the mixture begin to cool and harden. Use a wooden spoon to beat the cooled mixture until it becomes creamy. Put the mixture into a jar and store it in a cool location for up to four months.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 tbsp. beeswax
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa butter
  • 1/2 cup base oil (almond, grapeseed or jojoba)
  • Pan or double boiler
  • Stirring spoon
  • Essential oil (rosemary, sandalwood or rose)
