While there are many hair growth treatments available from your doctor or dermatologist, these are often quite expensive and have numerous potential side effects that some people may not be comfortable with. However, there are also some natural treatments that can help women re-grow hair. These remedies have not been tested or approved by the Food and Drug Administration however, so talk with your doctor before starting any new treatments, especially if you are already using a prescription treatment for hair loss.

Saw Palmetto, Apple Cider Vinegar and Distilled Water

According to Bill Gottlieb, author of "Alternative Cures: More than 1,000 of the Most Effective Natural Home Remedies," a mixture of saw palmetto, apple cider vinegar and distilled water can be used to help re-grow hair for some women. To make this mixture, combine ½ tsp. saw palmetto, 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar and 1/8 cup distilled water in a small container and shake or stir to combine. After washing your hair or scalp, pour this mixture over your head and gently massage the area for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse the area with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. This treatment can be used once per day as long as no irritation occurs, and larger portions can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for future use.

Nettle Root Essential Oil, Sage Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil and Jojoba Oil

Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," says that a mixture of nettle root essential oil, sage essential oil, rosemary essential oil and jojoba oil can be used as a topical treatment for female hair re-growth. To make and use this natural treatment, combine ½ tbsp. of each essential oil with 12 tbsp. jojoba oil in a small, dark colored bottle with a tight-fitting lid and shake to combine. Pour a small amount of the mixture onto clean fingertips and massage it onto your wet scalp for 4 to 5 minutes. Rinse the scalp with cool, clean water and wash with a gentle cleanser before patting the area dry. This treatment can be used daily unless it bothers your scalp or skin. Unused portions of the mixture can be stored in a cool, dark and dry place for up to two months.

Vitamin C Tablets and Olive Oil

Jethro Kloss, author of "Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies since 1939," claims that a mixture of crushed vitamin C tablets and olive oil can be used to re-grow hair in some women. To make this mixture, crush one vitamin C tablet in a mortar and pestle and mix in 2 tbsp. olive oil. Massage this mixture onto your scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse the area with lukewarm water and wash with a mild cleanser. This treatment can be used twice per day as long as it doesn't irritate your scalp. Unused portions should only be kept in the refrigerator for 24 hours at most.
