Aluminum-based compounds are a common ingredient in conventional antiperspirants and deodorants. These compounds form a temporary plug within the sweat ducts which stop the flow of sweat to the skin's surface. As sweat does not cause odor; deodorants without aluminum may provide an alternative for those who want to promote underarm hygiene. Many brands of deodorants do not contain aluminum and can be purchased online or in stores.

Weleda

Weleda organic deodorants come in three scents. Sage, with its herbal fragrance and pure essential oils, is marketed for men. Wild rose, with its floral fragrance and pure essential oils, is specifically for women. Lemon boasts a fresh fragrance and pure essential oils of lemon and is described as a unisex deodorant. Non-aerosol versions come in 3.4 fluid ounces and one-ounce travel versions.

Dr. Hauschka

Dr, Hauschka offers two roll-on deodorants without aluminum in 1.7 ounce bottles. Deodorant Fresh has a lemon scent and appeals to men and women, and combines witch hazel and sage extract. Deodorant Floral for women combines neem leaf and sage. Both are recommended for people with delicate skin.

Erbaviva

Erbaviva offers two varieties of non-aerosol spray organic deodorants without aluminum in 3.4 fluid ounces and one ounce for travel. The lemon sage is formulated for both men and women, and contains organic extracts of lemon, sandalwood, patchouli and tea tree oils. Jasmine grapefruit is designed for women, and contains jasmine, grapefruit, ginger, cedarwood and lemon. Organic grain alcohol in both counteracts the growth of bacteria that causes underarm odor without clogging pores.

Tom's of Maine

If you like stick deodorants, Tom's of Maine offers three varieties: original, sensitive care and longlasting. Tom's uses hops to inhibit the growth of bacteria and help prevent odor and chamomile extract for sensitive skin. The fragrance oils are encapsulated in silica shells in the longer-lasting versions.
