How to Get Rid of Face Hair on Women

Facial hair can be discomforting for many women. According to FamilyDoctor,org, hirsutism is when excess hair grows on the body and face in women. Women of Mediterranean, South Asian and Middle Eastern descent are more likely to have hirsutism, which may be hereditary and can be caused by high levels of androgens, or male hormones. Women have many options when they want to rid themselves of facial hair, however, depending on budget and time commitment. You can always check with your doctor if you are concerned about facial hair, as a prescription may be of use.

Plucking

Step 1

Wash your face with warm water. Lightly pat it dry with a towel.

Step 2

Take the magnifying mirror and step outside into direct sunlight.

Step 3

Hold the mirror close to your face and grab each hair with your tweezer.

Step 4

Pull the hairs in the direction of their growth. Do this action quickly. Hold your skin taught if necessary.

Step 5

Pluck hairs daily to reduce the amount of time spent, as well as irritation that may occur.

Depilatories

Step 1

Clean your face with a mild cleanser. Pat it dry.

Step 2

Take your depilatory, or cream that removes facial hair, and apply it directly to hair.

Step 3

Leave the cream on the hair for the amount of time as directed.

Step 4

Lightly wash off with cold water, being careful not to rub the cream into your skin. Moisturize your face as necessary.

Tips and Warnings

  • Plucking and using depilatories are a few ways to remove hair. You can also shave, but this may cause irritation to your skin. When plucking, a sharp quality tweezer is best. The more money you spend on your tweezer the easier it may be to pluck stubborn hairs. Waxing and bleaching creams are two other options you may want to investigate. Use a calming moisturizer, such as one that contains lavender, after you remove hair to reduce redness. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are more expensive, yet permanent ways to remove hair. You can also visit a doctor and have the skin cream Vaniqa prescribed, which is said to remove hair.
  • Be careful when plucking small hairs. It can be painful, so having as much light as possible is important. If you are prone to sensitive skin, it may important to skin test a facial hair remover cream. Again, you can always seek professional medical advice if you are unsure of which route to take.
