The Smooth Fitness 6.45 treadmill is designed to provide an aerobic workout, as well as tone and strengthen the lower body muscles. The treadmill consists of a walking belt powered by a motor; an attached console controls all of the various functions. While the steps involved in operating the treadmill are very straightforward, you may encounter situations where the machine fails to function as desired. By following a few basic troubleshooting procedures, you may be able to find and correct the underlying cause of the problem.

Power

Step 1

Trace the treadmill's power cord back to the electrical outlet. Confirm that the device is connected to a surge protector. Check that the surge protector is properly seated in a grounded electrical outlet with an electrical rating of 110VAC/15 amps; if surge protector comes equipped with its own power switch, confirm that the switch is set to the "on" position.

Step 2

Kneel down next to the front end of the treadmill and find the circuit breaker, located near the power cord. Set the treadmill's power switch to the "off" position and wait approximately five minutes. Set the circuit breaker to the "reset" position, then attempt to turn the treadmill back on.

Step 3

Turn off all of the lights and other electrical appliances located in the same room as your treadmill. Head to your home's circuit breaker box. Open the box and inspect the switches for any tripped breakers; if found, flip the breaker back to the "on" position. Return to the treadmill and attempt to reactivate it.

Belt Alignment

Step 1

Insert the treadmill's safety key into the slot located at the bottom of the console unit. Stand next to the treadmill's deck and press the "Start" button, located near the center of the console, to the right of the "Speed" buttons.

Step 2

Watch the treadmill's belt as it moves and note the angle of misalignment. Press the "Stop" button, located near the center of the console, to the left of the "Incline" buttons.

Step 3

Kneel down next to the rear of the treadmill's deck and locate the adjustment bolts installed at the end of each side rail. Select the right bolt if the belt is angled to the right or the left bolt if the belt is angled to the left. Turn the bolt a quarter of a turn to shift the belt towards the center; the right bolt turns clockwise and the left bolt turns counterclockwise. If the belt remains off-center, turn the opposite bolt a quarter of a turn. Keep moving between the bolts until the belt reaches the desired location.
