Cookies can help you lose weight for different reasons. A meal replacement cookie can help you lose weight if the cookie has fewer calories than the meal it is replacing. A high protein or high fiber cookie can help you lose weight by satisfying your hunger. Healthy cookies that taste good can help you lose weight if you eat them instead of giving in to your cravings for higher calorie options.

Cookie Diet

Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet is an example of using cookies to substitute for meals. Each cookie has 90 calories, 2g of dietary fiber, and 5g of protein. If you follow the recommendations to replace two meals per day with six of his cookies, you will be eating 540 calories. That is likely fewer calories than you would eat if you ate two full meals. The cookie diet is more interesting to follow because of the variety of flavors that you can choose, including oatmeal raisin, chocolate, blueberry, banana, and coconut. Because the cookies do not provide all of the essential vitamins and minerals, the recommendation is to consume a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement to meet recommendations.

The Protein Bakery

The Protein Bakery makes wheat-free cookies. These cookies have 4 to 6g of whey protein each, and you can use these cookies to help you lose weight if you substitute them for higher calorie snacks. These cookies are more filling than other cookies because of their protein and fiber, and the oats that they contain as a substitute for white wheat flour. They are available year-round in flavors such as chocolate chocolate chip and blueberry cranberry white chip, and seasonal flavors include oatmeal coconut white chocolate chip and peanut butter macadamia chocolate chip. If you are choosing these cookies as snacks to help you lose weight, be careful about your choices. This company's pumpkin walnut blondie is unlikely to help you lose weight with its 420 calories per blondie and over 50 percent of the daily value for saturated fat.

Earth Friendly

Earth Friendly claims that their Chips to Go Fiber Cookies will encourage you lose weight, promote colon health, and banish constipation. They can help you lose weight by helping you to "beat the afternoon and evening munchies." If you tend to overeat in the afternoon and evening, this cookie could help you lose weight by decreasing the amount of food you eat during those times. You can find these cookies in chocolate chip, vanilla rainbow, oatmeal raisin and vanilla almond flavors. The first ingredient in these cookies is the company's Regularity Plus blend that is a mixture of oats and various dietary fibers. Each cookie has 100 calories and 5g of dietary fiber.
