Murfreesboro is a historic town located in the middle of Tennessee, just 33 miles south of Nashville. Founded in 1817, this small agricultural town has grown to a suburban city of more than 100,000 residents. Camping at the nearby KOA campground gives you the opportunity to enjoy the recreational activities of the rolling hills, forests, creeks and rivers of the region.

Campground

The closest KOA campground to Murfreesboro is located 26 miles south in the town of Manchester. This KOA offers 40 RV sites with full hookups designed for RVs up to 75 feet in length. It also offers 14 tent campsites and nine cabins to choose from. Facilities available in the campground include a dump station, propane gas tank and restroom facilities with hot showers.

Amenities

While staying at Manchester KOA, enjoy complimentary cable TV and Wi-Fi Internet access as well as free fishing in the campground pond. Relax in the gazebo or in the hot tub. Go for a workout in the exercise room, or from May through September you can swim laps in the campground swimming pool, or splash in the mini spray park. Play volleyball and basketball on the outdoor sport courts or try your hand at lawn bowling. There's even a pet playground available for your dog to play in.

Activities

This KOA serves up lots of activities for you and your family. Grab a blanket or stretch out on the grass to enjoy screenings of family-friendly movies projected on the side of the campground barn. Dig into an ice cream treat at an ice cream social, or participate in a covered wagon ride.

Local Attractions

Adults over 21 can enjoy free tours at both the Jack Daniels and George Dickel distilleries. Visit Falcon Manor to experience what life was like on a southern manor home in the late 1800s. Rent a canoe on the scenic Elk River or go caving at the Cumberland Caverns. You'll also have the opportunity to visit historical areas associated with the Civil War.

Hiking

There are several hiking trails in close proximity to Manchester KOA. Try the moderate three-mile Old Stone Loop Trail for views of the Little Duck River, rock bluffs, several waterfalls and a stone wall built by Native Americans more than 2,000 years ago. The trail takes you through forest ravines and past clear streams that create waterfalls. Take in the natural beauty by hiking the nature trail to the pond of your campground. Drive north toward Murfreesboro to hike the two-mile Barfield Wilderness Loop Trail that follows along the shores and surrounding bluffs of the West Fork Stones River.
