The Stamina 1205 Precision Rower is considered a fitness machine, as opposed to a rowing machine meant to train competitive rowers. It approximates the motion of sweep rowing, however, which in turn provides cardiovascular and strength-building benefits. The 1205 retails for $350, as of August 2010, when purchased from the manufacturer, Stamina Products.
Specs
The Stamina 1205 Precision Rower measures 48 inches long by 32.5 inches wide and 27.75 inches high, giving it a significantly smaller footprint than many other rowers. When folded for storage, the Stamina 1205 measures about 49.5 inches long by 11.75 inches wide and 9.5 inches high.
Display
The Stamina 1205 has a display that shows your current speed, the distance traveled, how long you've been rowing, your stroke count and estimated calories burned. The calorie burn is considered a rough estimate; the user manual warns that you should use it only to compare one workout to another.
Resistance
The 1205 has adjustable piston-driven resistance. To adjust the resistance, loosen the locking knobs, located where a piston joins each handlebar. Slide the tension adjuster up or down for more or less tension, respectively. Tighten the locking knobs again before using the rower.
